About this demo

A working walk-through of the online school that opens to its first learners in September 2026. Everything you can click is built around three invented young people — so you can see exactly what school life here looks like without a single real child’s information being involved. That choice tells you a lot about how we work.

What’s real

  • The curriculum — live at curriculum.nudgeeducation.online.
  • The term dates and the September 2026 opening.
  • The platform stack — Google Classroom, Google Meet, Google Workspace.
  • The governance model — OEAS-only, the Diamond AI Policy, the Ten Design Principles.
  • The staffing model — qualified subject teachers and Practitioner-Mentors as deliberately distinct roles.
  • The architecture — the rooms, runs and seals are drawn from the open convention this demo is built on (below), and the absence & wellbeing loop follows a real capability specification.

What’s fictional

  • Maya O. (Year 10, full-time), Theo R. (Year 9, short-term) and Yasmin K. (Year 11, catch-up) — invented young people, drawn from real experience, who make the school feel real without being real.
  • Their mentor, their teachers’ diaries, and every reflection, piece of work and timestamp.
  • The local authorities named — Greenfield County Council and Riverside Children’s Services don’t exist.
  • Nothing here is connected to live school systems; buttons that would do something real are switched off on purpose.
  • The family portal is a preview of an idea, clearly badged as such — and the one-tap absence reporting won’t be built until our own privacy and safety reviews have signed it off.

The architecture it’s drawn from

The building you’ve been walking through follows the Open Provision Drawings — a published set of architectural plans that treat an online school like a real school building, with rooms, doors, corridors and locks, rather than a pile of apps. A security specialist can check the locks; a safeguarding lead can read it as a floor plan; a parent can simply see who can go where. One rule governs everything: if a route isn’t drawn on the plan, information doesn’t travel that way.

The rooms

What each part of the school is — reception is where everyone signs in, the key cabinet decides who can open what, the safeguarding office keeps the careful record, and the leavers’ door is what happens when a learner moves on.

The corridors

Which rooms can pass information to which, and on what conditions — and, just as deliberately, which rooms are built never to connect at all.

The three promises (the seals)

There is no side door past sign-in · outside partners work with the learner, never their safeguarding file · and any AI tool can see the lesson it’s helping with, but can never reach a child’s record. Built into the walls, not written in a policy.

Like any real building plan, this one carries a revision history — the mentor’s room and SEND office were added for the open day. And anyone with a stake in the school — learners, families, staff — has the standing to propose the next revision.

Why the learners are invented

A demo built on real children’s information would contradict everything this school stands for. Maya, Theo and Yasmin let you see the school exactly as its people will — a learner’s Tuesday, a mentor’s morning, what a local authority officer receives — while no real child is involved at all. When NEO opens in September, real learners step into the same building, protected by the same locked doors you’ve just toured. What you’ve seen is the school, shown before anyone has moved in.

The rules we hold ourselves to

  • Working towards accreditation under the Department for Education’s Online Education Accreditation Scheme (OEAS) — the government’s quality mark for online schools.
  • Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE 2026) — the statutory safeguarding guidance every school follows; its escalation routes are built into every part of this demo.
  • The ICO Children’s Code — each person sees only what they genuinely need to see; nothing more is collected or shown.
  • The Online Safety Act 2023 — clear routes for handling and evidencing any online-safety incident.
  • Our Diamond AI Policy — how AI is used is explained to every family and signed at the start; no AI capability is switched on without a review first.
